Clean Makeup Products for Soft Summers

Clean Makeup for soft summer title image

As a Soft Summer you’ll look best in muted, natural-cool, and light-medium to medium-deep makeup colors. An understated and subtle makeup look will suit you best. I often think of a natural or no-makeup makeup look. Soft summers want makeup that enhances the natural beauty. Stay away from bright make-up or make-up that wouldn’t naturally be part of the complexion. In this post, I am sharing my personal favorite clean makeup products for Soft Summers below. I love all these products, colors, and formulas. For each category I am including my personal staples. Additionally, I added additional products recommendations that I like but don’t use in my daily routine. If you’re interested, you can read about my daily minimalist makeup routine here.

All products included in this guide are non-toxic, often have skin improving benefits, and don’t contain harmful ingredients.

Blush:

Best blushes for soft summers will have a slight cool tone and are muted. Think of tones that have ‘gray’ added to them. This doesn’t mean it looks gray, it simply caused the color to be more muted. Some brighter colors especially deeper colors can work for us too, as long as they are very well blended. And if your current blush is too bright, you can always easily fix it by going over it with the leftovers on your foundation brush, and you’ll have a wonderful natural flushed look.

Lily Lolo Pressed Powder Blush

One of my favorite powder blushes, it blends well into your skin, has good color payoff, and is easy to blend. It doesn’t dry my skin out and nicely melts into the skin. The color stays put for quite some time but doesn’t withstand all day mask wearing. It has a satiny finish which looks glowy without any trace of shimmer on the skin.

Colors: ‘In the pink”, a gorgeous cool pink; and “Coming Up Roses” a matte rose pink (I love and use both colors)

Lily Lolo Blush
100% Pure Blush

100% Pure Pressed Powder Blush

This blush is unique in that it is colored by fruit as is all makeup by 100% Pure. This blush has great color payoff and is very easy to blend. Expect some fallout as you pick up product with your brush, so I recommend tapping it off before applying. Then it applies like a dream though. The color Chiffon is a cool toned bright pink. I love it for deeper skin tones.

Kosas Color & Light Palette – Cream

A super blendable and skin conditioning blush and highlighter, that is long-lasting and melts into the skin. The color “8th Muse is a perfect light – medium cool pink that gives a dewey pop of color to your cheeks. It has also skin enhancing ingredients which not only adds the prefect color to your cheeks but is good for your skin too.

Kjaer Weis Cream Blush

Kjaer Weis – Cream Blush

This cream blush was one of the first clean blushes I ever acquired. I have repurchased it several times since. This blush is easily blendable and buildable melts into the skin leaving a dewy natural flush to the skin. The organic formula is long wearing and adds skincare benefits.

Colors: “Lovely” a berry shape – great for medium skin tones – I love this one in the summer; “Reverence” a cool pink shade another great option; and “Blossoming” works well if you are leaning warm and can easily rock soft autumn colors too.

Han Mulstistick

A creamy and nourishing allover color, yet I prefer it for cheeks. It blends easily with very great staying power. This multistick comes in several cool toned shades that are great for soft summers. I own this in the color “Pink Peony” a cool toned pink. “Rose Dust” a dusty rose color and “Rose Berry” a rose mauve color are also great options.

Another daily favorite of mine is the color “Rosebud” and “Havanah”. A long lasting, easily blendable blush that adds just the right amount of color for that natural flushed look. A little bit goes a long way. I recommend starting lightly and build as needed. I tend to apply very little for the perfect flushed natural makeup look.

Favorite soft summer makeup for Eyes & Brows

Soft summers will look best in cool toned browns, black-brown, or even black mascara. For your brows, pick cool toned products that work well with your natural eyebrow color. I personally think the closer to your natural color the better and opt for a light application as a stark eyebrow can easily overpower your soft features. For eyeshadow, stick with lightly cool toned and muted colors in the taupe, brown/mushroom, fray, pink and purple, or greens from your color palette. I especially like ivory, taupe, pink, purple, and gray browns for more neutral and softer daytime looks. For eyeliner I like gray, taupe, a dark and softer purple, and navy.

Eyeshadow:

Ilia Necessary Eyeshadow Palette:

This is my go-to eyeshadow. I love the colors, the versatility to create soft daytime or more dramatic nighttime looks. The Necessary Eyeshadow Palette has beautiful neutral cool soft pink, mauve and brown tones, making it a great everyday palette. The colors have good color payoff, not too much fallout when dipping the brush into the pan and are easy to apply and blend.

Well People Power Eyeshadow Palette Violet

Well People Power Palette Eyeshadow

The Violet palette has great taupe, pink and gray-brown neutral matte and satin finishes for everyday looks. The hyperpigmented colors blend easily and are long wearing. A great clean and affordable option that is easy to obtain, for example at your local Target.

Lily Lolo Laid Bare Eye Palette

I love this neutral palette featuring 8 silky smooth neutral shadows great for day and night looks. I especially love this palette for those that lean more neutral and can borrow from soft autumn colors as well. The sleek compact comes with a double-ended applicator, or you can add your own smaller travel brush. This is a perfect travel palette.

Eyeliner:

Ere Perez not only has several great eyeliner color options for soft summer, I also really like their formula. It holds up well, all while it is easy to apply and smudge for a softer look. My favorite colors are Stone – a shimmery soft slate, Agate – a dark amethyst, and Opal – a midnight blue. Stone is a soft color while the others are a little stronger and need to be blended a bit to make them work for the softness of a Soft Summer.

I love a moisturizing, tinted lip balm or moisturizing gloss with lip moisturizing properties for everyday moisture and that little pop of color. Kosas LipFuel in Rush is one of my favorites. I love the color and how moisturizing it is. RMS beauty Tinted Lip Balms are also a great option, they do remind me a little more of a softer lipstick than a true tinted lip balm. I enjoy using both all the time, and have one in every bag. So easy to apply on the go. If I opt for a lip gloss, I’ll either reach for Ilias Tinted Lip Oil in ‘Linger’ or ‘Only You’ or Fitglow’s Lip Serum in Nudie, Dahlia, or Regal. I like to switch them up based on the season.

The weightless lipstick from Kosas in ‘rosewater’ is one of my favorite lipsticks. Very creamy and moisturizing yet has a good staying power and it does not bleed on my lips.
