I have decided to try my first summer capsule wardrobe with 30 pieces for the month of June. I have been in the process of switching my spring wardrobe to my summer wardrobe. During this process, I found that I am missing quite a few pieces. As I started to plan out my wardrobe, I realized I am not quite sure what I am missing.
The opportunity to join @slowfashionmoms Slow Fashion Challenge of a Capsule Wardrobe for June, was the perfect opportunity for me to figure out the rest of my wardrobe. I am hoping to learn what items I am missing. Additionally, I am hoping to figure out what doesn’t serve me any longer.
What is a capsule Wardrobe?
A capsule wardrobe is a limited selection of clothing items that cohesively work together. Each item can be mixed and matched to create multiple different outfits. These items are often classic pieces that do not go out of style and often comprised of neutral colors that go well with each other. It is totally possible to include colors as long as you make sure that all colors work well together.
A great benefit to a capsule wardrobe is that you can customize it to exactly what you need, and you can pick colors that flatter you the most. You can easily adjust it to fit your current lifestyle and your preferred style. I have picked a very casual wardrobe for June based on our activities and my lifestyle needs. If you try this, change and adjust your capsule wardrobe to fit your lifestyle. Adjust the color scheme to those that suit you the best and colors that you truly love.
My Capsule Wardrobe Selection
My capsule wardrobe is based on a Midwestern Climate where this year’s temperatures range anywhere between lows in the 50s and highs up to upper 80s. If your climate is different make sure to adjust your capsule appropriately to those temperatures. I am also not including any outerwear, shoes, or accessories. I also have a different capsule for workout clothes and swim clothes.
I included 26 items in my capsule wardrobe, leaving a little room to add the additional items that I am missing along the way. I will update this post with lessons I have learned from this journey.
