ONE/ TWO/ THREE/ FOUR/ FIVE/ SIX
I am looking for some new jeans and branched out to some new styles I have not tried before. To complete my spring and summer wardrobe, I am hoping to add some straight leg and slouchier jeans. In this jeans roundup, I included the following styles: straight, boyfriend, slouchy straight, and skinny jeans. All jeans are part of the sustainable or fair-trade line at Levis, Target, and Old Navy.
Jeans Roundup: Straight Jeans
Straight leg jeans are a great way to transition from Skinny Jeans to a wider leg. I like how easy it is to dress them up for work with heels or flats or dress down with sneakers or sandals. They also work well with boots and are easier to style in the winter than slouchier jeans. This is a personal opinion, coming from a skinny jeans lover.
For straight and more slouchy jeans I prefer no more than 2% stretch and little heavier denim that feels still light for summer yet not too thin where the jeans don’t have any structure. The Levis Wedgie jeans are long-time favorites of mine. I love the fit and cut, and I found I can wear them in all seasons and with many different types of tops and shoes. The Old Navy O.G. straight jeans are a very similar style, with a slightly softer denim at first. The Levis wedgie jeans were a little rigid at first, but after a few wears they molded themselves to my body. Now they are very comfortable with a wonderful fit. Old Navy’s Boyfriend jeans are another great option if you are looking for a looser fit. A rolled cuffed accentuates the casual style of these jeans. I also liked them uncuffed with flats or boots.
Target, Old Navy, and Levis:
The Target high-rise slim straight fit jeans are a little thin and feel quite stretchy. They are true to size, I’m wearing my usual size 2. It seems these might stretch out and lose their shape.
Old Navy high-waisted O.G. straight jeans in medium wash fit true to size, feel nice and snug on the top without being restrictive. The medium weight denim with 1% stretch feels substantial but still soft.
My tried-and-true Levis Wedgie straight Jeans in ‘jive sound’ are true to size, medium weight denim, with1% stretch. I ordered my true size and while they were tight at first, they softened and fit themselves to me perfectly.
Old Navy & Target:
Old Navy mid-rise medium-wash boyfriend jeans, is true to size, I’m wearing size 2, fitting a little looser as I’d expect from Boyfriend jeans. The medium heavy denim is structured yet soft. I really like how these jeans are a straight trough the hip and leg and less fitted than the O.G. straight fit jeans.
High-Waisted Button-Fly Slouchy Straight Cropped Non-Stretch Jeans, also from Old Navy, run much larger than the rest. I am wearing my regular size 2 here. With 100% cotton denim, they don’t have any stretch which is great for the They are relaxed through hip and thigh cut, yet they still feel soft.
The Vintage Straight Cropped Jeans by Universal Thread at Target are also relaxed through hip and thigh. I’d say they are true to size, I’m wearing a size 2, and keep you nicely supported in the waist, while the hip and legs are relaxed. The denim is thicker and more rigid which I believe provides the nice structure of these jeans.
Jeans Roundup: Skinny Jeans
While skinny jeans are not as popular as they were the last several years, but I don’t think they’ll go completely out of style anytime soon. They are staples in my winter wardrobe, as they work so well with boots and snow boots. Additionally, a good dark wash or black jean can be easily dressed-up for work or an evening out. Thus, I didn’t want to exclude them from my jeans roundup and share the ones I tried.
I personally preferred the weight of the Levis jeans the best, followed by Old Navy, and the Target jeans were too thin for me. Both the Levis and Old Navy jeans were a little more structured on the top, but the front pockets are rather small. The pockets on the Target jeans are bigger and functional.
The Levis 721 skinny jeans are my first choice, followed by the ON jeans. If you are in the market for stretchy thinner jeans, I think the Target ones are a great option. Old Navy’s skinny jeans with elastic Waistband are my favorites for early pregnancy and postpartum.
Target:
I tried two skinny jeans of the Target Fair Trade line. Mid-rise skinny jeans medium deep wash, are composed of 91% Cotton, 7% recycled Polyester, and 2% Spandex. The denim materials is a little on the thinner side with a nice stretch (described as power stretch) to it, which makes the jeans very comfortable. The fit is in my opinion true to size, I got my regular size 2.
High-rise skinny jeans – medium wash, have a few distressed places on the knee and thigh. The denim is comprised of 91% cotton, 7% recycled Polyester, and 2% Spandex. The material is also a little thinner and quite stretchy, making the jeans comfortable to move in.
Old Navy & Levis:
Old Navy dark-wash skinny jegging, is very comfortable and stretchy jegging. They fit true to size, I’m wearing my regular size 2. The elastic waistband makes it a great option for early pregnancy and post partum.
High-Waisted Rockstar Super Skinny Jeans is a nice weight denim with just enough stretch. The high waist sucks you in, without being restrictive. The fit is true to size, I am wearing my regular size 2.
I have owned my Levi 721 Skinny jeans in white for a few years. They are not see-through at all while still being light weight and comfortable due the perfect amount of stretch. They are true to size, wearing my regular size 26.
My favorite jeans are both Levis, the Wedgie straight jeans and the 721 Skinny Jeans. I will be adding the Old Navy boyfriend jeans to my wardrobe. If I needed two pairs of jeans, I would also add the Old Navy slouchy straight jeans.
